It has since become the\u00a0center\u00a0for\u00a0traditional Thai massage.<\/p>\n<p>Inscribed on stone in the walls of\u00a0Wat Pho\u00a0are all that was known about\u00a0Thai massage\u00a0dating from the\u00a0reign of King Rama III(most previous texts were lost when the\u00a0Burmese\u00a0destroyed\u00a0Ayutthaya).<\/p>\n<p>Today,\u00a0traditional Thai massage\u00a0is the focus of many\u00a0tourists&#8217; visits to the temple. Here\u00a0visitors\u00a0can enjoy a\u00a0variety\u00a0ofrelaxing treatments, or enroll in one of the various\u00a0study courses\u00a0administering the\u00a0teachings of traditional Thai massage.<\/p>\n<p>Note: A\u00a0traditional Thai massage\u00a0is not gentle experience and will initially cause a certain amount of discomfort, afterwards however, you will feel more\u00a0supple, relaxed and revitalized.<\/p>\n<p>Within the\u00a0temple grounds\u00a0you can find more than\u00a01000 images of Buddha, most from the ruins of the former capitalsAyutthaya\u00a0and\u00a0Sukhothai.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thaiwebguide.com\/bangkok\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/wat-po-court-yard-chedi.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-822 aligncenter\" alt=\"Wat Pho Court Yard\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thaiwebguide.com\/bangkok\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/wat-po-court-yard-chedi.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thaiwebguide.com\/bangkok\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/wat-po-court-yard-chedi.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.thaiwebguide.com\/bangkok\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/wat-po-court-yard-chedi-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thaiwebguide.com\/bangkok\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/wat-po-court-yard-chedi-180x135.jpg 180w, https:\/\/www.thaiwebguide.com\/bangkok\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/wat-po-court-yard-chedi-360x270.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The grounds are split in two by\u00a0Chetuphon road. The\u00a0Northern section, which houses the\u00a0large bot\u00a0(temple hall)\u00a0enclosed by 394 bronze Buddha images, is generally the most popular. Outside the bot, there are\u00a0152 marble slabs\u00a0depicting the second half of the epic\u00a0Ramakian story. Nearby are\u00a0four chedis constructed\u00a0in honor of the\u00a0first three Chakri kings\u00a0(two for\u00a0King Rama 3).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">There are another\u00a091 Chedis\u00a0of varying sizes scattered around the grounds, along with\u00a0chapels,\u00a0rock gardens, an array of different types of\u00a0statues,\u00a0inscriptions,\u00a0bell towers\u00a0and\u00a0resident fortune tellers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">Wat Pho is located on\u00a0Sanam Chai road\u00a0and\u00a0Maharaj road\u00a0just a short walking distance from the\u00a0Grand Palace. There are booths just inside the north, or south, entrances. The\u00a0Chao Phraya Express boat\u00a0also stops near the complex. You can get off at\u00a0Tha Chang pier,\u00a0Tha Tien Pier\u00a0orPak Klong Talad Pier, then walk through\u00a0Thai Wang Road\u00a0entrance.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Thai Traditional Medical Science School\u00a0and\u00a0Body Massage\u00a0is\u00a0open daily from 08:00 to 17:00 hrs.\u00a0Massage\u00a0servicefee is 250 baht\/hour,\u00a0Herbal massage\u00a0is\u00a0350 baht\/hour\u00a0and a\u00a0foot massage\u00a0is\u00a0250 baht\/hour. It is also possible to takecourses to learn traditional Thai massage. These are for\u00a030 hours\u00a0and start from around\u00a04,500B.
