21 November 2010 (Sunday) Loy Kratong This day is not a national holiday, but an evening when Thais pay respect to the goddess of the waters by floating a kratong which is a candlelit offering on water. It makes for one of the most beautiful occasions during the year and is treated like a Thai version of Valentines Day.
5 December 2010 (Sunday) King's Birthday His Majesty the King's birthday is celebrated throughout the country and also serves as the nation's Fathers Day. As on Mother's Day, children mark this occasion in schools by presenting shows and show their love and respect to HM King who all Thais view as a father figure and to their own fathers.
