Thailand Floods 2011 | Ayutthaya & Northern Bangkok

small-Sena-District-Ayutthaya

Thailand has recently been hit by the worst rains it has seen for the past 50 years.

The rainy/monsoon season has stretched from July and is expected to ease at the end of October.

Water levels of rivers have overflowed and burst into neighboring villages causing destruction of many local residents homes and destroying their lives and taking away their possessions.

One of the worst hit areas has been the province of Ayutthaya which it north or Bangkok and also the Ancient City of Ayutthaya, a UNESCO Heritage site founded in 1350.

There have been approx 300 reported deaths from the floods but that figure is expected to rise, with more heavy rain predicted before the end of the month and fear or illness and water borne disease relief is needed in the region.
