| Thailand To Host First Asian Martial Arts Games |

The Thai Cabinet together with the Olympic Council of Asia, made an announcement at the 52nd OCA Executive Board Meeting in Bangkok, that Thailand will host the 1st Asian Martial Arts Games. The competitions, which will take place from the 25th April to the 3rd of May, are the latest games set up by the Olympic Council of Asia and hopes are that they will help promote Thailand’s image as a sports tourism destination to the world. A number of committees have been established in order for the games to run smoothly. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has been appointed as the Committee for Public Relations.There will be approximately 2,500 people from 45 countries participating in these Games. Over the 9 days, there will be nine different sports including Karate, Kickboxing, Muai Thai, Wushu and Kungfu, Jujitsu, Pencak Silat, Judo, Taekwondo, and Kurash. The competition will take place in 4 different venues: Indoor Stadium Hua Mark Sports Authority of Thailand, Nimibutr Gymnasium Supachalasai National Stadium, Bangkok Youth Center (Thai-Japanese) Stadium, and Sports School Suphan Buri province. The opening and closing ceremonies will be held at the Indoor Stadium Hua Mark on 28th of April and the 3rd of May.
